The Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (Mongolia) is characterized by an extraordinary concentration of cultural remains of various nomadic civilizations including the ancient cities of Khar Balgas and Karakorum, numerous smaller settlements and fortified sites as well as burials.

This study investigates the potential of different luminescence methods applied to quartz and feldspar to date young (<2500 years) samples collected in the Orkhon Valley.
